Day by day
DAY 1 Arrive Lilongwe, on to South Luangwa
Met at Kamuzu International and driven through to Mfuwe in Zambia, around six to seven hours. Lodge check-in and an evening to settle.
DAY 2 South Luangwa
Morning and afternoon game drives — lion, leopard, elephant, giraffe, hippo and the valley’s birdlife — with an optional walking safari.
DAY 3 South Luangwa
A second full day in the park, out at first light and again in the late afternoon.
DAY 4 Return to Lilongwe
The drive back into Malawi, and overnight in the capital.
DAY 5 Lilongwe city tour, then Cape Maclear
Old Town markets, the Kamuzu Mausoleum, the World War I memorial and the Nature Sanctuary in the morning, then the four-hour transfer to the lake.
DAY 6 Cape Maclear
Boat cruises to Thumbi West Island and the Ilala Gap, and snorkelling over the cichlid beds.
DAY 7 Cape Maclear
Village walks along the bay, and time on the beach.
DAY 8 Cape Maclear
A last lakeside day, ending with a sunset cruise and fish eagle feeding.
DAY 9 South to Mulanje
The drive down to the massif, around five to six hours, and into a lodge at the foot of the mountain.
DAY 10 Mulanje
Guided walks to Likhubula Waterfalls and the Dziwe la Nkhalamba natural pool, and time among the tea estates and villages below the massif.
DAY 11 Departure from Blantyre
A slow morning at the lodge, then the transfer to Blantyre’s Chileka airport for your onward flight.
